Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Since September of 1989.
What is your primary product or service?
While we do all types of counseling, our main service is marital and relationship counseling. We are one of the largest and most well respected marital practices in the Indianapolis area.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My belief is that almost all therapists get into the work due to dysfunction in their own families of origin. This isn't a bad thing as long as the therapist has done extensive work on their own isses. We require and encourage that personal work by our therapists here at Family Tree. My background was based in ministerial training at Taylor University and at a Bible College in Tulsa, OK.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
In many ways...#1 We have been around for a long, long time, #2 we are the only practice in town that offers the first session free, #3 we have a proven brand of family systems therapy, #4 we have MARK E. SMITH, LCSW, our Founder and Clinical Director, one of the Indianapolis area's leading therapists for the past 22 years. His leadership, vision, insight, experience, stature and intensely powerful and highly effective approach give Family Tree its strong foundation. Read his hundreds of articles and his newspaper columns, watch his television interviews on 'Better Indiana' (on our site) or listen to his dynamic FREE recorded TeleWorkshops and you will get a feel for his marriage saving message and his unique gifts. His specialities include Affair Recovery, Marital Therapy, Sexual Addiction, Relationship Addiction, Internet Pornography, Mid-Life Issues, Abandonment Issues, Small Business Management, Work with Physicians, Work with Artists and Creative People, Codependency, Divorce Recovery, Dating Coaching and Workaholism. He has completed Module 1 of Patrick Carnes' Certified Sexual Addictions Counseling training program. If your marriage is in crisis and you need a wise, experienced, direct, cutting therapist to kindly, convincingly and articulately name the truth about your situation and give you and your spouse the direction that you desperately need, then he is definitely your man.
